TO ALL PARENTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL:
Adriana Soto (President)
The International School
On behalf of the Parents' Association, I am delighted to welcome you to The International School family. I am committed to actively be involved in the life of our school and hope that many of you will choose to join me and participate in many of our events.
We hold monthly meetings and invite all parents to attend. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to get involved in your child’s education by collaborating on programs and activities at the school, field trips, and joining in our ongoing fundraising efforts. We provide numerous opportunities for parents to actively participate. Parents may serve on the association’s executive board, act as coordinators, form committees, volunteer for events, chaperone and/or as drivers during field trips.
Together with our faculty and staff we take pride in promoting projects that enhance many aspects of our students’ learning experience. We add the support needed to our school by donating in many ways.
On a personal note, I arrived from Havana, Cuba in 1978 and Valeri, my husband of 15 years came from Tomsk, Russia in 1996. We both met while working on separate medical research projects at Wayne State University. Our daughter enrolled at The International School last year and is now in the 8th grade. After just a few years attending a typical American school Katia, was forgetting to speak Russian and Spanish and even rejected us when we spoke to her in those languages. She is now thriving at The International School and we are very pleased with her improvement in language and academic skills.
I wish you and your family to enjoy a rewarding experience for the upcoming school year as much as our family does.
Best wishes to you in the year ahead,
Adriana Soto (Kolesnitchenko)248-396-4682
